Herman van der Merwe graduated with a Masters in Accounting from the University of Stellenbosch prior to completing his Articles with PricewaterhouseCoopers Stellenbosch. His professional career started in 1981 and from 1982 – 1988 he held the position of Head of Department of Accounting, and Professor, at the University of the Western Cape. In 1991 Herman started his own business, later named Logista Incorporated, which formed part of a South African Network with a firm of a similar name in Pretoria. In 2007 he left to start HVM. Herman holds multiple positions, on various boards, and Chairmanships including; the Boland College Council, Chairman of the Stellenbosch Entrepreneur and Enterprise Development Trust, Chairman of the RUVUMA Support Partnership for work in North Eastern Mozambique and Chairman of the Board of the National Institute of the Deaf in Worcester (NID). Herman's fields of expertise include, corporate structuring, taxation, ethics and training for accountants.

After matriculating at Hopetown High School in 1997, Vermeulen studied Accounting at the University of Stellenbosch, completing his 3 year Articles at Logista Incorporated. Post his articles, he held the position of Financial Manager at Juno Wines (Pty) Ltd, before being employed by ASL Incorporated as Audit Manager. Vermeulen joined HVM in 2008 and became a Partner in 2010 after qualifying as an Auditor. His fields of expertise: taxation, accounting and auditing.

Daniel grew up in Stellenbosch, where he matriculated in 1996. During his studies in Stellenbosch, he founded a company in the music & publishing industry which he eventually sold. After the completion of his MBA in 2005, he joined DaimlerChrysler AG in Germany as a project manager. In 2007 he moved to London, where he completed his articles with Deloitte and thus also obtained his CA registration in the United Kingdom. On his return to South Africa at the end of 2009, he joined the accounting and tax practice, Concilio Tax, as a partner, where he set up the Concilio Audit and Consulting divisions as fully operating entities. During 2017, the Advisory company rebranded as Ascent Advisory and Concilio Audit merged with HVM in May 2018. Daniel is an active partner and director in both entities and passionate about sustainable business development and financial integrity.
Daniel is an avid adventurer, actively partaking in mountaineering, mountain biking and endurance trail running. He loves the richness of diverse cultures and consequently use every opportunity to travel the world to experience it firsthand.

Christa Niemand has been with HVM since 2008, after finishing her Articles at ASL Incorporated. Her education is from the University of South Africa (UNISA) where she completed a BCompt degree in 2006.

Elna grew up in the Karoo on a farm near Beaufort West. She attended Langenhoven Gymnasium in Oudtshoorn and after matriculating, studied at Boland College receiving a Diploma in Financial Management. Since then, Elna has furthered her studies attaining a Diploma in Tax and Administration of Estate and Estate Duties. She has 12 years experience in registration of Companies and dealing with CIPC.
Janco grew up in Somerset West and matriculated from Parel Vallei High School in 2008. He started his SAIPA traineeship with HVM while starting a part-time BCompt degree with the Unversity of South Africa (UNISA) which he completed in 2015. Janco became HVM’s first SAICA trainee and completed the traineeship in 2016. He is currently studing towards his Certificate in Theory of Accountancy in order to be admitted to the qualifying examinations of SAICA.
